Strangers, Out And Proud
May, 26th was the official release of the much anticipated single from Halsey's upcoming second album, hopeless fountain kingdom, called "Strangers" featuring Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui. Both have publicly talked about being bi-sexual and how proud they are to own their sexuality and be a public figure for others like them. This song is an 80s pop sounding jam perfectly questioning love like any young person would today. It begs the underlying question between the couple, "Are we in love or just scared of being alone?".
The song beautifully melts the raspy-ness of Lauren with the very light sound of Halsey. Halsey has hinted online that this album and song will continue to be concept-based like she has done in the past. Fans have speculated that Halsey's concept character and whoever Lauren plays may end up fighting in a potential music video. We'll just have to wait and see as we listen to this mega-hit.
