13 Reasons to Watch 13th

Netflix recently added a groundbreaking film to its' documentary section. The film titled "13th" uses direct camera interviews and narration from African American studies and Political Science experts as they explore the prevalence and abuse of a loophole created in the 13th Amendment.

The Amendment is summarized in the beginning of the film as stating that no man can be treated as a slave or discriminated against, unless they have been convicted for a crime. The exception has been exploited by jails and government corporations for years and now its' detrimental effects are coming to light as the conviction and shooting of blacks is increasing more and more everyday.

Here are 13 Reasons why this is a documentary you should take the hour to watch.

13. One of the main speakers in the film is Angela Davis, a black activist who was arrested during the civil rights movement and defended herself in court to end up getting the charges removed.
