Fullscreen, Full of It or the Next Hulu?

Over the past few years portable digital media has been an increasing trend. People around the world have been catching up on their shows through streaming services. The nostalgic went back many years and the term “binge watching” came to be as we watched beloved shows and movies from the past. Services such as Netflix and Hulu have racked in millions in the past year alone as subscribers pay monthly to enjoy their streaming. Due to the high success in such a short time, many other companies have tried to jump on the bandwagon. Amazon created Prime TV for members of amazon prime to enjoy streaming of select shows and movies as well as Amazon made content. In la

te 2015, Verizon announced the launch of what they call a “Mobile-first video service”. The streaming service, named Go90, features original content, content from media company AwesomenessTV, and other joint groups.

At&t is ready to join the fun with the launch of its new partnership streaming service Fullscreen. Fullscreen is an ad-free subscription video service that is meant to speak directly to the Internet Generation. The service includes originally created content, a selection of well-known television shows and movies, as well as some pieces created by Youtube stars. The link with Youtube is meant to draw in a larger audience from those who want to see more from their favorite content creators.

I subscribed to the service for a free month trial and my experience overall is satisfactory. The website overall was underwhelming to be correct. There were no major faults in the service but nothing was provided that shocked or pleasantly surprised me. It seemed like a simple internet library of retro and indie films and TV shows. I think the aspect that the website is missing compared to the most popular services is there aren't new series regularly updated. The original content from Youtubers is updated similarly to their videos but so far new shows aren't added with current episodes. While the binger in all of us loves a good throwback TV show, there is definitely new content out there that we still want to be up to date on.

Check out the website for yourself at www.fullscreen.com to start your free trial now.
